Abstract： The variational design based on the three-dimensional software becomes more and more popular in machinery development. This paper describe the variational design function of Solid Edge by using the engineering example of machinery design， and succeed to improve the product design efficiency in the boiler development by using the variational design function and the second development of Solid Edge. =}R~0|^
